AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fear advertisements are a great tactic to use in an election campaign. For the most part they are a little embellished and not completely true, they're just made up to bash the opponent and get the audiences vote. I think they really work because they reach out to the viewer and what is important to the viewer, if the candidate can do that against the opponent, the viewer will immediately start thinking to vote for that candidate that will protect them. It is definitely a mean and low way of getting votes but it absolutely works. Although they are dirty, it is important for the public to know the truth about the opponent, of course nothing can be taken on a silver plate, if a person is serious about a candidate they should research it themselves. Lucky for the candidates, many people are too lazy to research the truth about the opponent and they believe what they are told by the television.

Myths in advertisements
The "I am man" Burger king commercial explicitly uses a myth to convey its commercial's purpose. In the commercial all of these different types of men come together and sing this song how they are real men and they don't want to eat salads and quiches, they want man- food, they want a nice, big, and juicy piece of meat, aka the Double Whopper from Burger King. They can only satisfy themselves with this masculine meal and be a real man. The ad then shows all of these strong men coming together to eat this "man burger." All of a sudden their is this myth that there is a difference between masculine and feminine food. I'm not so sure where this came from or when this happened, but now salads are considered too feminine, and I can no longer eat meat. Truthfully I'm not the biggest fan of tofu, and a girl needs her protein.
This is a great ipod commercial. The black figure on a changing- color background is just dancing, going crazy, having a great time to Jet's "Are you gonna be my girl." It's such a fun song, perfect to dance to, and perfect choice to promote and ipod. Its even saying how "take my hand and come with me because you look so fine that I really want to make you mine", what other way is there to get the viewers to say, "wow that ipod does look really cool, I'd love to have one of those in my hands to play any song I want at any time such as the Jet's song." This song really makes the audience want to get up and just go crazy with the guy and girl on the screen.

WOO HOO...
According to this commercial Garnier Fructis is the best and only shampoo for a girl who wants to have a good time. The commercial starts off by asking the viewer if they have gross hair and are sad about just like the black and white girl in the picture and if your hair, like hers is "lifeless at the party?" All of a sudden she uses this shampoo and magically her world turns around, she's the new hottie on the beach with her strong, shiny, beautiful, long blonde hair. This is a really convincing commercial because every girl wants to feel this way and have a gorgeous guy all over her. It really does make blondes look like they really do have more fun. I

I personally really like this song, "You Give a little Love" by Bugsy Malone, it reminds me of the movie "Pay it Forward". Basically it just says that you do a kind deed for another person and they do a kind deed for another, and so on, causing a whole chain and ripple effect of kindness. This Coca Cola commercial is using to show that if you drink a bottle of coke, which is so good and makes you happy, your world will be changed from rushing and rudeness to a light and fun day full of kindness which will be passed on and eventually come back to you. By drinking this beverage you could change the world.

What's with the Racism?
Race has a very interesting role in advertisements. In the earlys 1900's it was used as a means of selling a product based on a racist stereotype that consumers could relate to. One example is in the rat poison ad where a Chinese man, who at the time were unwanted immigrants, is eating a rat and the words, "They must go" written above his head, referring to the rat and to the Chinese man. This was unfortunately something that would catch the consumer's attention. By using race as a tactic, advertisements such as Uncle Ben's Rice may appeal to a certain social group by having a black man seem like he is serving you this delious rice and is more than happy to do this for you. This catches the buyers' eyes because beig served by a black man is something that he is used to and can relate to to make him happy. Today, the use of race in an ad has changed its purpose. Now producers put different races in their ads in order to sell their product to that community, to have a larger range of consumers. For example a new Old Navy had Lil' Kim rapping about the new and low priced winter line. By using Lil' Kim, Old Navy is hoping to reach out to the Black communities and get them to start purchasing their items. Truthfully, I believe things had to change, now most people would never buy a product that was being sold to them through racism and degradation.
I see it too Tim
Target uses the song "A Beautiful World" by Tim Myers to play off the images of nature that are throughout the commercial; a pregnant woman, corn, and outdoors. It is a light and fun song, and really makes everything look beautiful, just like the store. Target is such a happy and relaxed environment, everything is so natural and colorful, and they really do have everything needed for any type of person. Its a great commercial, I always feel happy when I watch it.
